ANN WHITING AND FRIENDS

With years of experience performing for audiences all over the country, Ann Whiting and Friends can't help but get you tapping your toes and singing along. There will be dancing, fiddle tunes, stories and songs - all drawn from the rich traditions of New England and Canada. Almost a folk festival unto themselves, Ann Whiting and Friends are a fun, engaging experience for all to see.

So who are the "Friends"?

I'm lucky to work with a number of wonderfully talented musicians. Depending on the gig venue, the number of musicians can range from one to three.

*Musician(s) selection is contingent upon availability.

BRENDAN TAAFFE (fiddle & guitar) plays for dances and
concerts throughout New England with Happy Foot, madgad and
other bands. Brendan lived in Ireland for a while where he
earned a Master's Degree in performance at the University of
Limerick and played weekly with All-Ireland Champion Danny
O'Mahony. In addition to playing, Brendan is a singer and
directs Turtle Dove Harmony, a singing camp for adults.

DAMN YANKEE STRING BAND consists of John Mowad, Sarah
Hotchkiss and Jen Wells. They play a foot-tappin',
knee-slappin' blend of old-time mountain music, vintage
country and hillbilly jazz.

WAGTAIL consists of Susannah Blachly, George White, and
Carter Stowell. A contemporary folk fusion featuring
old-time tunesmithing, world-beat percussion, and three-part
vocal power.

DIXIE BUTTERHOUNDS are an old-time string band whose members
include Paul Boyd, George Touchstone, Jon Gersh, Mark
Wholley, and Kathy Fletcher. Their repertoire consists of
Appalachian fiddle tunes and songs as well as rags and bluesy
numbers.

FRENCH TOAST consists of Michelle Kaminsky, Alan Bradbury,
and Mark Wholley. They were drawn together by a love of the
music of French Canada. They have made many trips North of
the border and studied with the masters of Quebecois dance
music. Their music reflects years of playing the Franco-
American tunes of their native New England as well.
